Scientology Volunteer Ministers in the Czech Republic gave hope and results amidst the floods in the Jeseníky Region.

Brussels, Brussels, Belgium, 9th Oct 2024 – Following the floods that affected the Czech Republic and notably the Jeseníky region recently, the Scientology Volunteer Ministers have played a crucial role in aiding recovery efforts and providing assistance to those in need. Through more than 3000 volunteered hours the committed team had supported almost 200 families in restoring their residences and restarting their lives post the havoc wreaked by nature.

The Consequences of Mother Natures Wrath

The recent floods in the Czech Republic were incredibly destructive as raging waters caused damage, to trees and vehicles while even entire houses were swept away in the deluge of waterways that ran through communities during this event.

Community members were confronted with the job of tidying up their residences while dealing with the emotional toll of the catastrophe they experienced firsthand. During critical moments as these ones, receiving timely support could serve as a beacon of hope, amidst the overwhelming sense of loss and despair.

“The Coming of the Golden Messengers”

When the full scope of the destruction became clear and urgent assistance was required in the aftermath of the Jeseníky disaster, the Scientology Volunteer Ministers quickly sprang into action. Renowned for their response to disasters and their widespread humanitarian work worldwide—ranging from aiding during hurricanes in Florida to providing relief after earthquakes, in Turkey—their motto of “Something Can Be Done About It” echoed with a sense of immediacy and importance.

On the evening of September 17th, a group made up of both Scientology and non Scientology volunteers reached the area. They began their display of kindness by tidying up the Jeseníka Elementary School of Arts and proceeded to offer families without electricity power generators.

Within days, the volunteers were cleaning homes in the village of Písečná, laboring diligently as they transported bulky equipment, such as pumps and mud vacuums, often hundreds of meters due to washed-out roads.

From their arrival until their departure on September 28th, the Scientology Volunteer Ministers achieved contributed with the following:

  • Cleared more than 120 buildings of mud and water
  • Assisted nearly 200 families in returning to their homes
  • Delivered four vans of humanitarian aid
  • Provided approximately 100 “assists”—one-to-one spiritual support, developed by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, for those struggling with the emotional impact of the disaster
  • Logged over 3,000 volunteer hours

This remarkable output in less than two weeks underscores the effective organizational technology rooted in Scientology’s teachings.

Community Reactions

The Scientology Volunteer Ministers have been warmly welcomed by the community and lovingly referred to as “yellow angels” thanks to their unique yellow caps and attire consisting of yellow shirts and jackets. Their efforts have had a positive effect on the people they have assisted and their families.

One resident, deeply affected by the disaster, recounted her experience: “When I saw the disaster in my home, I begged the angels for help. In the morning, the Scientology Volunteer Ministers appeared.” Many locals expressed their astonishment at the speed and efficiency of the cleanup. “We were struggling here with no results, and you came and in a few hours it was done.” The Elementary School of Arts expressed their gratitude in a heartfelt message: “A BIG THANK YOU 💛🙏. The volunteers literally fell from the sky. They came to our damaged buildings and did a tremendous job.”

The Mayor of Písečná also shared her appreciation: “I have no words. I don’t remember ever seeing someone work with such dedication and enthusiasm. Thank you so much. Without your help, it wouldn’t have been done the way it has been done, and certainly not in such a short time.”

The response to the volunteer efforts was overwhelming, with many residents eagerly seeking assistance and finding it difficult to keep up with the demand for help. In the closing days of their mission, the volunteers even cleaned the local playground, multifunctional playground, football field, and transport playground, ensuring that children could resume their play and activities.

A Philosophy of Helping Others

Central to Scientology’s beliefs is the emphasis on aiding those in need: a philosophy that underpins their humanitarian efforts. L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology, initiated the Volunteer Ministers program over thirty years ago in response to societal decline and the need for increased morality and kindness. He stated, “If someone doesn’t like the criminality, cruelty, injustice, and violence in this society, they can do something about it. He can become a VOLUNTEER MINISTER and help civilize society.”

Founded in 1954, Scientology has since expanded to over 11,000 organizations, missions, and affiliated groups worldwide, boasting millions of members across 167 countries. Their volunteer programs continue to embody the essence of helping communities in crises, as exemplified in the Jeseníky flood recovery.

The impressive response of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers in the Jeseníky area following the floods is a touching example of community teamwork and volunteer dedication in times of crisis. These dedicated volunteers have emerged as a beacon of hope for the community during their most challenging moments. Earning them the endearing nickname of “yellow angels.” This demonstrates that when people come together with determination and effective actions, like this group did, it shows that there are solutions to be found in situations.
